Grandview Campus-Yakima Valley Vintners, Yakima Valley Community College Vineyard and Winery Technology Program’s teaching winery will open its tasting room for Yakima Valley’s Spring Barrel Tasting. The tasting room, located on the YVCC Grandview Campus, will be open on Friday, April 25 from 3:00pm-5:30pm and on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday April 27 from 10:00am-5:30pm.

The teaching winery on the Grandview Campus provides students the opportunity for hands-on learning about winemaking and allows them to showcase their wines. Students will be pouring several wines at the spring event, including Riesling, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. There will also be barrel sampling of red wines. They will provide tours of the facility and host educational stations, including a wine sensory station, and wine and food pairings. In addition, the student club will be selling cut barrels for planters just in time for spring planting.

Yakima Valley Vintners has received numerous awards for their wines. In 2013, the 2011 Carmenere received a gold medal at the Tri-Cities Wine Festival, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon titled Dean’s List was a Platinum award winner, the 2010 Primitivo won gold at the Seattle Wine Competition and double gold at the Platinum event.  

The tasting room is located at 114 Grandridge Road. For more information contact wine@yvcc.edu / or the tasting room at 509-882-7069.

The presentation, "Art 2 Wear" celebrates what we human beings create and have created in times past to adorn and express ourselves.

Yakima Valley Community College Vineyard & Winery Technology Program presents the Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Intermediate Course on the YVCC Grandview Campus, Room U170; 500 West Main Street.

 Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 - Intermediate Course
Class Date: Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 from 9:00am-5:00pm.
Exam Date: Wednesday, May 14 from 6:00-8:00pm. Cost: $695/person with payment plans available through Wine and Spirit Archive Presenter: The Wine & Spirit Archive

This two day course covers the major grape varieties, regions of the world, food and wine pairing, sparkling wines, fortified wines and the major spirits. Included as part of your course is a tasting through 45 wines and four spirits.

No previous wine knowledge is required for the WSET Level 2 Intermediate Course. It is the ideal starting level for those with little knowledge of wine, or those who have a serious interest in wine and/or knowledge regarding particular types of wine, but who lack a breadth of knowledge of all the world's wines.

Successful candidates will be awarded the WSET Level 2 - Intermediate Certificate in Wine and Spirits.
