 ART
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Larson Gallery - (Larson Gallery)

The Larson Gallery and YVCC Playmasters presents Yasmina Rezas’ ART. Are we who we are, or who our friends THINK we are? Don’t miss YVCC’s production of ART, held one-night only! The show will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 4:00pm in the Larson Gallery and reception will follow. Tickets cost $35 and limited seating is available. To reserve your seat: 509.574.4875.

Description: ART is a French play by Yasmina Reza that premiered on 28 October 1994 at Comédie des Champs-Élysées in Paris. How much would you pay for a painting which was a white canvas? Would it be art, and what would your friend’s think, and of you for buying it? This is exactly the situation in which Serge finds himself when he invites his best friend Marc to view his latest acquisition. The play examines the emotional roller coaster that three friends, Serge, Marc, and Yvan, find themselves in over this work of art and their ongoing friendship.

The cast includes: Larson Gallery Director and YVCC Photography Instructor David Lynx as Serge, YVCC Political Science Instructor Timothy Jeske as Marc, and YVCC Geology Instructor David Huycke as Yvan.

 Diversity Series: Bless Me, Ultima
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

The Diversity Series Partners with Allied Arts Latino Cultural Film Series
March 20th: Bless Me, Ultima

The Seasons Performance Hall, 7:30pm-9:00pm

Based on the controversial novel by acclaimed author Rudolfo Anaya, Bless Me, Ultima is a turbulent coming-of-age story about Antonio Morez, young boy growing up in New Mexico during World War II. When a mysterious curandera named Ultima comes to live with his family, she teaches him about the power of the spiritual world. As their relationship grows, Antonio begins to question the strict Catholic doctrine that he has been taught by his parents. Through a series of mysterious and at times terrifying events Antonio must grapple with questions about his own destiny, the relationship between good vs. evil and ultimately how to reconcile Ultimas powers with those of the God of his church. A facilitated discussion will follow after the film. Information provided by: http://www.blessmeultima.com
